Decisions about the application

First class university - desire to undertake research

The nature of the reserach year for biochemistry

Visited open day - impressed

Preparation

no

Do not expect fairness or transparency - Oxford claims to be looking for potential - I am not convinced of their commitment to this

Interview

no

no

no

First interview - all academic questions - felt that it went really well (obviously not as I thought!!) second interview - a disgrace - the interviewer at Lady Margaret Hall did all the talking - I began to wonder what agenda they were working towards

First interview - academic questions focussing mainly on organic chemistry. second interview just listen to the interviewer talk!!!

Smart trousers, jacket, shirt

Impressions

Liked the college - beautiful surroundings

Small rooms with adequate facilities

Good

Friendly

Friendly, on the whole

Final stage

Felt devastated - felt like a failure - all other universities had accepted me - from your profiles it would seem that you can into Oxford with lower grades than other universities.

Looking back

Yes - but I would not give Oxford a second look - in hindsight i should have applied for Cambridge

Do not expect fairness or transparency - Oxford claims to be looking for potential - I am not convinced of their commitment to this.
